The Dos & Don’ts of Online Shopping – How to Find What You’re Looking for and Save Time & Money

Hey everyone! How many of you love to online shop? I’m definitely guilty.. whenever I find myself on my computer with nothing in particular to do, I somehow land up on my favourite brands’ websites browsing through new products. Why is that! It must be the fashion girl in me.. I can’t help myself!

Anyway – in an age where online shopping is gaining some serious popularity, it’s important to be smart about it. Here are some “dos and don’ts” tips that I’ve found to be helpful when navigating my online shopping addiction. 🙂

Check for sales online before buying in store

A lot of the time physical retail stores are behind or later on sales than online stores. Make sure that you check for the items you’re looking for online so that you can get the best price! Another tip: if you can’t find your size in store because the item is on sale, be sure to check online before buying something just a bit too big or too small. Online retail has much larger selections for sizing, so chances are that you’ll be able to find your true size there!

Search for colour options online

Sometimes brands offer different colour options online – if you’re not totally sold on the colours available in store, either ask an associate or check online yourself for other options.. you never know what may be available!

Check on free shipping options before purchasing

Most brands provide free shipping after you spend a certain amount of money, so instead of placing 2 or 3 small orders, make one big order to save yourself shipping costs!

Browse larger department store websites without knowing what you’re looking for

Big company online retailers can be overwhelming because of the sheer amount of product that they carry.. use the search bar or the category tabs (ex: women’s shirts) to look for a specific item that you’re looking for. If not, you may be browsing for extended periods of time and end up adding too many items to your basket without realizing it.

Get lost in product temptation

If you went on the website looking for a specific item, don’t get carried away browsing the site and adding unnecessary things to your cart.. it will end up costing you lots of money on impulse buys (trust me.. I’m so guilty)!

Hope these quick tips were helpful! Do you have any tips for me? I’m always open to saving time and money.. let me know! Thanks for reading. 🙂
