December may be the prettiest month of the year- the lights, the costumes, the atmosphere, and the shops! While I understand not everyone celebrates the same holidays, I think we can all agree that the aesthetics of December warms up the chill!
1. Christmas Markets
My favorite part about walking around town during the holidays are the gastronomic adventures the markets offer! Not only are they often in vibrant public spaces but they ignite all the senses in delightful sights, smells, and sounds!
2. Skating Rinks
Even if you don’t remember how to skate or never have skated before, this activity must be one of the most fun (& harmless) to topple over from. Grab the warm mittens and skate on or indulge in watching others falls from the sidelines sipping a nice hot cocoa.
3. Street Performances
While some street performers are year round (looking at you Toronto’s spiderman!), others are uniquely and specially curated for December holidays. So bask in the aurally delightful surroundings and treat yourself to public concerts, carols, or acrobatics!
As December wraps itself up (pun intended), be sure to look out for your own municipal fireworks light show, another sure way to illuminate our cities!
