What notable things happened today?

A week ago, I returned from a two-week trip to Seoul, Korea, and I’m still processing the whirlwind of experiences. It wasn’t just a journey across miles but also through time, revisiting memories and witnessing the city’s transformation since my last visit over a decade ago.

One of the most poignant moments was reconnecting with a cousin I hadn’t spoken to in over twenty years.

Our estrangement, born from a forgotten disagreement, melted away in the warmth of shared family stories. This reunion was a powerful reminder of the importance of mending relationships and the fleeting nature of time.

Another striking aspect of my trip was the stark realization of aging. Seeing my uncles and aunts, now visibly older, brought a sobering awareness of our own mortality.

It was a compelling recognition, prompting reflections on life’s impermanence and the value of cherishing our loved ones.

Seoul itself was a sensory overload.

The endless options for dining, shopping, and entertainment, initially thrilling, soon became overwhelming. The city’s frenetic pace contrasted sharply with the nostalgia of familiar places. I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety, a reminder of how our environments shape our experiences.

One notable highlight was visiting Dongdaemun Plaza, designed by the renowned architect Zaha Hadid. The flowing, futuristic structure was a testament to Seoul’s dynamic evolution, blending tradition with innovation. Touring this architectural marvel and learning about its design philosophy was a truly memorable experience.

This trip was more than just a vacation; it was a journey of introspection and discovery. As I continue to reflect on these experiences, I realize their lasting impact on my perspective and future.
