“Could This Simple Morning Habit Revolutionize Your Self-Care?”

Daily writing prompt
How do you practice self-care?

I didn’t realize I was “practicing” self-care until I saw this WordPress prompt.

Before my recent trip to Seoul, Korea, I had a pretty solid morning routine: getting up around 5:00am, doing some meditation, strength training, and wrapping it up with my favorite hobby—sipping on a freshly brewed cup of coffee.

Within these morning rituals, there’s one activity I never considered a “self-care” routine: writing morning pages. This habit developed over the years as a way to cope with stress and organize my thoughts.

Every morning, I reflect on the previous day, jotting down my thoughts on a notepad with a pen. This simple act brings a calmness I don’t feel when I’m furiously typing on a keyboard.

With my favorite drink in one hand and my trusty Muji Navy Blue pen in the other, I dive into the events of the day before. Writing down my scattered thoughts and hoping to find solutions or guidance for yesterday’s problems has become an unexpected self-care practice.

Interestingly, I don’t always come up with answers.

In fact, many days I end up with more questions than solutions by the time I finish writing.

However, seeing these questions and issues neatly written on paper somehow makes me feel better than I did before.

The act of writing morning pages allows me to “close” on yesterday’s problems, knowing I can address them again tomorrow if needed. Of course, today’s problems will just have to wait their turn for a few more days 🙂
