A sense of security is the perception of people’s living environment, in fact, a sense of security is similar to oxygen, can not notice when we have it and when we lose it will suffocate in panic.
I would like to write this topic because I recently had a car accident and believe my car will be identified as a total loss. The car is a used car I bought with full payment, and I will definitely choose a lease for my next car. I am wondering why I was so urgent to “own” a car at that time I believe I was lacking security and I wished the “ownership” can fix it. In fact, that can be considered as money was my only source of security.
Security comes from trust, and the more things we trust, the more secure it is. These trusts are big and small, the company will not fire me, believe that sick to go to the hospital will not fail to register, believe that the money borrowed from their friends believes that the bus will not be late…
It is this trust that constitutes people’s security system. The smaller the gap between expectation and reality, the stronger the sense of security. The widespread belief that money can bring security shows a massive gap between expectations and reality in many things. What security needs most is a certainty. To a large extent, money is a definite thing, it is cold numbers, more is more, less is less, profit is profit, and loss is loss. We can see how many months ‘rent we have left, how many take-out meals we can buy, and how many places we can visit once we see the number in our bank account. People can safely plan their consumption and arrange their lives according to the numbers.
And so much else is fluid. Leaders’ promises can be broken, familiar friends can drift apart, and opportunities that seem assured can pass quickly. Daily life is unpredictable and full of unpredictable variables, and it is inevitable for the average individual to feel lost in the face of all this.
In conclusion, why is money the only source of security? It is because in the face of the ever-changing problems of life, choosing money is a quantifiable operation of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Because the world left for emotional dream space is shrinking, people began to arm themselves with cold-blood reasons.
